COVID-19

Since March 2020, the world has been dramatically affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Some trans and gender diverse people may be experiencing unique challenges during this time; this page provides some information and resources that can help in New York City.

As result of complying with social distancing guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19, The TURNNT Study has been reimagined as ‘TURNNT At Home’. TURNNT At Home allows trans women of color to participate safely in the study, with all necessary equipment and materials sent directly to your home.

If you have any questions about TURNNT At Home or any of the resources provided on this page, please the project coordinator, Gia Love (GL2689@cumc.columbia.edu).

  • Stay home as much as possible,

  • Wear a cloth mask or face covering when interacting with other people,

  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow, and

  • Take time to clean and disinfect your home and anything else you touch (give that phone a clean!) on a regular basis.

WHAT DO I DO IF I’M SICK?

If you are worried that you may have COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have published a helpful tool for identifying potential symptoms.

New York City has a ‘Coronavirus Hotline’ (888-364-3065) and so does New Jersey (800-222-1222).
